About Me

Photographer / Creative

Josh Wisotzkey

As a published, multi-platform photographer based in York, PA. I’m as familiar with a 300mm f/2.8 on a 7D MKii bursting 12fps as I am with hand metering a Nikkor-w 210mm riding in a 4×5 large format camera backed with a sheet of Ilford FP4+. There are a dozen different, process specific, cameras in the bag, but if I can’t find a camera to get the shot that I want, I’ve been known to build one. I’ll work from the river in a kayak, hiding in the woods in a blind, or continuous lighting in the studio.

While I’ve always had a strong passion for landscape and wildlife photography I’ve recently found inspiration in controlled lighting and still life work.

In the world of the digital workflow, I have complete reverence for the art of printing and believe that the print provides the finality to an image. I have explored several types of alternative printing processes but have worked towards a technical proficiency with cyanotypes, carbon transfer prints, and salt prints, as well as traditional giclée/inkjet prints.

Detail orientated and process control freak. From visualization to image capture, film development, scanning, editing, and printing, I am solely responsible for all my artwork and imprint myself through each step. Thoughtful and intentional in every movement. Favoring the simple, clean, and uncluttered. Finding form, directing moments and creating impact.

“If a day goes by without doing something related to photography, it’s as though I’ve neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up.” – Robert Mapplethorpe
